Why Your Band Aid Might Not Be As Helpful As You Think

Gene Carroll

Most households around the country have a healthy supply of band aids for all the common cuts and scrapes that people of all ages get. From cooking to cleaning, yard work to tinkering in your car, lots of individuals get these minor knicks that require a solid band aid to stop the bleeding and prevent infections. However, did you know that most regular band aids aren't as good for you as you might have thought? Here are a few reasons why you should consider making a conscious swap to better, natural band aids and why this change can make such a difference.

Allergies

So many adults and children have allergies these days, and for many, there seems to be no rhyme or reason as to why one develops these. However, the last thing you probably expect is for someone to be allergic to simple band aids. The problem is that the sticky substance on the edges of the band aid, which makes it adhere to your skin, often cause rashes and tenderness in people who are allergic. Natural band aids use a totally hypoallergenic formula that means it is impossible for one to have an allergic reaction. With so many people suffering from life-threatening allergies, this is a simple way to avoid accidentally endangering a loved one's life.

Easy To Remove

Have you ever had that issue where removing a band aid can cause the wound to reopen, or at the very least rip out some of your body hair? Natural band aids have a much less invasive adhesive, which allows them to be removed with a lot more ease. That doesn't mean they aren't grippy or strong enough to hold on for as long as you need. Rather, they are comparatively strong and you can often find waterproof varieties as well. That said, when it comes time to peel them off, you don't have to be as worried.

Environmental Concern

Normal band aids are almost entirely made of synthetic material that is extremely difficult to recycle, whereas natural band aids, as the name implies, are created from materials that can be broken down in a couple of weeks. If this is an important factor for you, it is hard to remain loyal to traditional band aids when there is such a stark difference.

It's important to address your wounds as they happen. To learn more about natural band aids, contact a supplier.
